VOYAGERS! GUIDEBOOK

THE ULTIMATE PICTURE FANSITE!

"The secret of the young man's character, was a high and abstracted ambition.  He could have borne to live an undistinguished life, but not to be forgotten in the grave.  Yearning desire had been transformed to hope; and hope, long cherished, had become like certainty, that, obscurely as he journeyed now, a glory was to beam on all his pathway, though not, perhaps, while he was treading it.  But when posterity should gaze back into the gloom of what was now the present, they would trace the brightness of his footsteps, brightening as meaner glories faded, and confess that a gifted one had passed from his cradle to his tomb with none to recognize him."
Nathaniel Hawthorne, 'The Ambitious Guest'

"I feel it is a great fortune to have some passion in life and an urgency in direction; it makes our whole being so much fuller."  Jon-Erik Hexum

Once again, I would like to thank all the fans who kindly donated their personal articles, memorabilia and images. All their contributions help to make these websites the biggest, informative, and fun resources for Voyagers! and Jon-Erik Hexum on the Internet. It couldn't have been done without them, nearly 4 years and counting! I would also like to thank the kind support and cooperation of the Jon-Erik Hexum Fanclub and Archive. Working together with them has been a real fascinating experience.

Jon-Erik Hexum in 'Boy Crazy'

Jon-Erik is the first of 18 rising young male stars to appear in this book.

Upon Jon-Erik's untimely death, his mother, Gretha Hexum, received an outpouring of support and condolences from all his fans worldwide. Because she couldn't address each one personally, she sent out one beautiful letter of thanks to everyone involved in his fan clubs.

When you buy particular blank DVDs like Sony brands and so forth, they are larger  than the Jewel cases, this should be about the approximate size cover for them.

*These long-forgotten gems sat in a box in JP Mullin's attic for nearly 32 years, until he recently discovered them, and donated them to the Club. The original tapes, a now-obsolete type of open reel video, were transferred to DVD in March 2008. If you would like a complete copy of the 61-minute tape and/or the 90+ minute "Lack of Talent Show", please contact Doug or Alan for further details.*

I highly recommend that any and all Jon-Erik fans own this collection. It's a prime opportunity to see him before the Hollywood glitz and watch him ham it up with his friends during his glory days of High School.

Jon-Erik Hexum: One Moment in time

This is a stirring video tribute to Jon created by Voyagersfan (Dennis Daugherty) that encompasses all the bits and pieces of his brief career.

On November 21st 2008, Jon-Erik's High School teacher, mentor, and close friend, Mr. JP Mullin, passed away.  He was a spirited, funny, and dedicated man who touched many lives at Tenafly High School.  JP graciously offered his time and personal memorabilia from Jon's Class of '76 to the JEHFC.  He corresponded eagerly with Jon's fans and had quite a few stories to tell about his time with him.  The JEHFC lovingly put up an obituary page for JP here-

In memory John Patrick Mullin.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends in this time of loss.

JP always had nothing but kind things to say about Jon-Erik, and here are two quotes that I found very touching in a letter he wrote to me.

"The Class of '76 and Jack in particular, were a great experience. We  had a major activity every month...there was no work...just fun...and Jack was a great Class President with leadership and humor."

In regard to his donations of the Tenafly High School Class of '76,  Talent show movie reels, and just all the pictures and memories, JP had this to say...

"If you knew Jack, you'll know why I do these things-sharing Jack. That is exactly what Jack did, and would do, and I do in his absence."

The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse
In the Summer of 1981, Jon-Erik did Summer Stock Theater in Auburn, New York at the Merry Go Round Playhouse.  Here are a bunch of articles which mention his performances in 'Guys and Dolls' and 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown' the latter in which he played the principle role of 'Leadville' Johnny Brown.
(Big thanks to Mickey Lord, Dennis Daugherty, and Doug Eames for the scans.)

In December 2007, People Magazine released this tribute book to those celebrities whom the world admired, but have sadly died. Amazingly, Jon-Erik is featured on Page 87, with a beautiful picture and blurb.  Its very touching to see that although he died so young and so soon into his career, he is remembered in this way.  I'd like to attribute this recognizance to all the loving, hard work that fans have put in throughout the years to keep his memory alive.  It has once again made the mainstream media take notice.  Yes, Jon is gone, but to many, not forgotten!
