The Adventures of Superboy' was a weekly 1/2 hour adventure series that ran in syndication from 1988-1992 before it was unfairly canceled due to legal restraints and wrangling between studios. This led Superman fans and the general public to largely forget about the show. With the release of the movie, Superman Returns in 2006, season 1 of the Superboy DVD was also released, but Warner Brothers claims sales did not go as expected.

It's no wonder, since they didn't advertise or promote it. The first season, had an unfortunately weak budget and the lead actor had a great look, but was not quite suited to playing the role. It is considered the worst season by many, though not without its fans and high points.

The series amazingly improved in seasons 2-4, and starred fan-favorite Superboy Gerard Christopher, who kept the series in the top 10 of syndicated programs during the remainder of its run. Gerard eventually wore different hats along with the cape as a producer and writer on the show.
